Where does Delmont's holiday season happen? Two years ago the answer was a route. On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the parade stepped off at 3 p.m. from Faith Global Methodist Church, ran down Freeport Street and ended at Rose Wigfield Parklet on Greensburg Street, where the rest of the afternoon took place.
In 2026 the answer is two addresses on two different days. Light Up the Parklet is Saturday, November 21, at 27 Greensburg Street. Holidaze is Sunday, December 13, at the church at 305 Freeport St. The one afternoon that used to link the two places is now a season with a date at each end, and the first of those dates comes before Thanksgiving.
The Route That Used to Hold It All Together
The 2024 version is worth recalling in detail, because it explains why the two locations belong to the same tradition. Mayor Alyce Urban briefed Borough Council on the plan in December 2024. The parade would run from the church down Freeport Street to the parklet, with the Delmont VFD and Santa Claus, riding in a 1930 Model A, among its participants. At the parklet the borough planned two bands, Santa, the Grinch, two food trucks, the Salvation Army serving hot dogs and soup, kids' crafts, vendors and K9 Officer Dirk.
TribLive's December 2024 listing gave the parklet hours as 3 to 7 p.m. It described a parade with Santa and the Elf Squad at 3 p.m., plus a dozen brand-new bicycles to be given away and a special toy from Santa for each child.
The parklet has long served that role. A borough parks plan describes it as a paved downtown space used for events and, at the time, a Saturday summer farmers market.
Three Seasons, Side by Side
By December 2025, Holidaze had settled at the church, the spot where the 2024 parade began. The parklet had its own evening 22 days earlier. That arrangement carries into 2026.
| Year | Parklet, 27 Greensburg St. | Faith Global Methodist Church, 305 Freeport St. |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Holidaze festivities, Sunday, Dec. 15, after a 3 p.m. parade | Parade starting point |
| 2025 | Light Up Delmont, Saturday, Nov. 22, listed 5:30 to 8 p.m., tree lighting at 6 | Holidaze, Sunday, Dec. 14 |
| 2026 | Light Up the Parklet, Saturday, Nov. 21, listed 6 to 6:30 p.m. | Holidaze, Sunday, Dec. 13, 3 to 6 p.m. |
The church as a home for Holidaze was confirmed early this year. At the May 13, 2026 Council meeting, Krista Krautbauer announced that Holidaze would take place at Faith Global Methodist Church on December 13.
A Half-Hour Listing, a Two-and-a-Half-Hour Street Closure
The borough's event page lists Light Up the Parklet for just 30 minutes, 6 to 6:30 p.m. on November 21. Council's own motion covers more of the evening. On September 9, Council approved closing Greensburg Street from 4:30 to 7 p.m. that Saturday for Light Up the Parklet Night. For anyone coming downtown that evening, the road closure is the timeline to plan around. The half hour on the listing is the lighting itself.
Last year's version gives a sense of how the evening fills out. The 2025 borough listing had the parklet opening at 5:30 p.m. and the tree lighting at 6. Council's November 2025 notes added that the Resident of the Year, adult and youth group, would be announced at Light Up Delmont. Nominations for that recognition are open again through the borough website, according to the September 2026 minutes.
In 2025 the parklet evening was also the end of a longer Saturday. The Delmont Visionary Committee ran a Holiday Craft & Vendor Show at the Delmont VFD from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It drew 28 crafters and 3 vendors in the hall and had a Kettle Korn stand outside, along with free family photos, a cookie contest and a kids' craft center where children made cards for Meals on Wheels recipients. The committee handed out free s'mores packets for families to carry over to the Light-Up event at the parklet afterward. The 2026 flyer for this year's lighting is linked from the Light Up the Parklet event page.
This year's date has one more practical consequence. November 21, 2026 is the Saturday before Thanksgiving, so Delmont's tree is lit before the holiday weekend even starts.
What the Church Afternoon Has Carried
With the lighting at the parklet, the December event at the church holds the giving side of the season. TribLive's December 2025 preview described that year's Holidaze at Faith Global Methodist Church as including:
- Food trucks, craft vendors and live music
- Children's activities and basket raffles
- A visit from Santa, with a new toy for every child in attendance
- A dozen new bikes and helmets given away
- A "quiet hour" from 2:30 to 3 p.m. for families with health impairments or sensory processing needs
Council minutes from November 2025 added that families should RSVP for the quiet hour and that the Grinch would be there too. The quiet hour is the one piece of the schedule that sits outside the posted hours, a half hour before the event opens to everyone. The 2026 details are on the flyer linked from the borough's Holidaze event page.
Holidaze was already large in its last year at the parklet. Krautbauer's January 2025 report on the parklet-era event counted 14 families who donated bikes for the raffle, more than 600 gifts and between 600 and 700 people in attendance. A couple of food trucks sold out. Kings Restaurant donated chicken soup, which was served from the Salvation Army truck, and the leftover toys went to Head Start, benefiting about 90 families. Twelve bikes were planned for that year, and 14 families stepped up to donate them.
Who Keeps the Two Dates Going
These events run on volunteers and small donations, and much of that work shows up in the borough minutes. Krautbauer has given Council many of the Holidaze and Light Up updates since 2024. She also noted that LSSE donated money toward the 2026 Holidaze. After the 2024 event she announced a debrief at Red Barn Winery, open to volunteer comments, to go over what worked and what could be better. This May she thanked the Apple & Arts Festival Committee for donations to both Holidaze and the summer Delmont Daze event.
Local businesses have helped collect the toys. Ahead of the 2025 event, toy drive drop-off locations included the Borough Office, Ace Hardware, John's Barbershop and Red Barn Winery, with older-kid gifts the biggest need.
The Weekend Around December 13
Holidaze shares its weekend this year. Red Barn Winery's vendor application page lists a market on Saturday, December 12, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m., the day before Holidaze. Market details are on Red Barn Winery's site.
Ianni's Pizzeria sits at 5 Freeport St., on the street the 2024 parade traveled. The borough's local business directory lists Ianni's along with Dairy Queen Grill N' Chill, Fox's Pizza Den, Lilja's Premier Pizza and Yellow Bridge Brewing among the food businesses in Delmont.
For a household planning around both dates, the calendar looks like this:
- Saturday, November 21: Greensburg Street closes at 4:30 p.m., and Light Up the Parklet is listed for 6 to 6:30 p.m. at 27 Greensburg Street.
- Saturday, December 12: Red Barn Winery's market, noon to 4 p.m.
- Sunday, December 13: Holidaze at Faith Global Methodist Church, 305 Freeport St., 3 to 6 p.m.
