Murrysville Fireworks October 24 and Trick or Treat on the Trail

The fireworks that were supposed to end Murrysville's Concert in the Park in August are now scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026. They'll go off at Murrysville Community Park at about 7 p.m., right after Trick or Treat on the Trail. With both on one Saturday, running from 3 p.m. into the evening, the town's Halloween event for young children has become the main event of Murrysville's fall.

The August concert was set for Friday, August 7, 2026. It ran from 5 to 10 p.m. at the park on Wiestertown Road and was free, with "three live bands, food trucks and fireworks!" On September 14, the municipality posted that the fireworks would happen on October 24 instead, and called them "rescheduled from our August Concert in the Park." The notice doesn't say why they were postponed, so we won't guess here. What's settled is where they ended up: on the same Saturday, at the same park, about four hours after the costumed kids show up at 3 p.m.

The August Show Moved Into a Halloween Saturday

The two September 14 notices describe one continuous event. Trick or Treat on the Trail runs from 3 to 5 p.m. for children 10 and under. The trick-or-treat notice then asks families to "stay to enjoy our rescheduled FIREWORKS display!" and says food trucks, glitter tattoos, vendors "and more" will be there until the fireworks at about 7 p.m.

The fireworks notice gives the evening its own window, 5 p.m. to dusk. It names who will be there: Designs by Becka Glitter Tattoos and Daugherty's Orchards with "apples, cider and pies!", plus kids' activities and ice cream.

Here's the day as the town has laid it out:

  1. 3:00 p.m. Trick or Treat on the Trail opens at Murrysville Community Park for ages 10 and under. Children don't need to register.
  2. 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Vendors hand out treats "WHILE SUPPLIES LAST."
  3. 5:00 p.m. to dusk The fireworks event window opens, ahead of the display itself, with food trucks, glitter tattoos, Daugherty's Orchards, kids' activities and ice cream.
  4. About 7:00 p.m. The fireworks the August crowd didn't get to see.

The fireworks notice doesn't list a rain date. Since this display has already been moved once, check the municipality's fireworks notice on the morning of the 24th before you go.

The Trail Event Has Changed Too

The fireworks aren't the only thing that's different this year. In October 2024, the TribLive Murrysville events roundup said the Murrysville Recreation Department would hold its annual Trick or Treat on the Trail on Oct. 26 "along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail between Carson and Lillian avenues." Trick-or-treaters registered online. The 2026 notice lists the location as Murrysville Community Park, labels the 3 to 5 p.m. window "NEW TIME THIS YEAR!" and says in bold that children's registration isn't required.

Detail 2024 listing 2026 notice
Date Oct. 26 Saturday, October 24
Location as listed Westmoreland Heritage Trail between Carson and Lillian avenues Murrysville Community Park
Hours Not given in the 2024 listing 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., labeled "NEW TIME THIS YEAR"
Child registration Online registration for trick-or-treaters Not required
After the event No evening program listed Rescheduled fireworks, about 7:00 p.m.

The 2024 listing gives no hours, so "new time" is the town's own description and we can't compare it against an earlier schedule. Every other change in the table points the same way. Families who walk in without registering, starting at 3 p.m., at the park where the evening program is held, can stay straight through to the fireworks.

The vendor side has an incentive built in as well. Businesses and organizations can register to hand out treats and compete in a Best Booth Contest. In 2024, participating businesses gave treats in exchange for a donation to the Murrysville Parks & Recreation Foundation. Booth sign-up is on the Trick or Treat on the Trail vendor page.

Where the Park Sits, and Why the Address Says Export

People outside Franklin Regional often trip over the park's mailing address. Murrysville's recreation calendar lists Murrysville Community Park at 4056 Wiestertown Road, Export, PA 15632. Use that exact address if out-of-town relatives are meeting you for the fireworks. The Export ZIP code can send a "Murrysville" search somewhere else.

The address is also why both the August concert and the October 24 evening fit here. One municipal park hosted the summer's largest scheduled night, a 5-to-10 p.m. concert with three bands, and now holds its delayed finale.

The Orchard Stand at the Fireworks Is Also Open Down the Road

Daugherty's Orchards is the one food vendor the fireworks notice names, and it's also a local farm stand. The farm calls itself "a small family run farm" at 5593 Saltsburg Road in Murrysville. Its product page lists apples and cider in season "AUGUST THRU DECEMBER." It also lists several apple varieties, homemade pies, and pumpkins starting at $12.

If you'd rather pick up a pie before Saturday than wait for the park booth, the Daugherty's contact page lists market hours as 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, closed Wednesday and Sunday. Those hours aren't dated, and parts of the site still carry wording from an earlier season. Call ahead before you plan a stop around them.

The Rest of the Fall Calendar

With the fireworks on October 24, the rest of Murrysville Recreation's fall listings are small, recurring programs.

Bear Hollow Park, Sunday, October 11. Tomorrow is the last session of the Mud, Sticks, & Sunshine Fall "Focus" Series. It runs from 2 to 3 p.m. for ages 1½ to 10 and is taught by Lauren Menzietti. Single sessions cost $20, and the three-date series was $50.

Sardis Park, Sundays through December 13. Murrysville Youth Rugby runs from 2 to 4 p.m. for ages 8 to 14. It's free but requires registration and is run with the Westmoreland Rugby Club. The program uses World Rugby's non-contact T1 format, and no experience is needed.

Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, around Veterans' Day. On October 8, the municipality announced a free Veterans' Day Cemetery Walk. It's organized by the Armstrong Civil War Roundtable, the Murrysville Historical Preservation Society, the Murrysville Community Library and the Murrysville Recreation Department. The walk will cover veterans buried in the church cemetery "along with a little local history." The notice says "More details to follow!" and doesn't give a date yet. Registration is encouraged. Watch the Adult, Teen and Family Programs page for the date.

Each of these draws a specific group: toddlers in boots on a Sunday, kids learning to pass a rugby ball, people interested in local history. October 24 is the only date on the calendar meant for the whole town.

Before Halloween Night Itself

The October 24 notices don't cover door-to-door trick-or-treat. The Murrysville notices about the trail event and fireworks don't list household trick-or-treat hours, and we didn't find posted 2026 hours for Murrysville, Export or Delmont. Delmont's events page still shows its 2024 listing, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., and that page says the event has passed. Families in Franklin Regional's three municipalities should check their own borough or township for 2026 hours rather than assuming the 2024 schedule still applies.

In practice, a family can trick-or-treat at the park on the 24th, stay for the fireworks, and still go door to door a week later. Together, the October 24 notices make the park the place to be from 3 p.m. until about 7 p.m.

At Hope Harmotto, we track Franklin Regional's municipal calendars the same way we track its tax bills and sewer rules: one township, borough and notice at a time. If you're thinking about a move within Murrysville, Export or Delmont and want to know how a specific street fits into all of this, from which park is closest to which office posts your trick-or-treat hours, schedule a consultation with our team.
